Six systems in the Great Lakes region recently embarked on a utility Olympics of sorts, a one-year contest to reduce energy-related pollution emissions, especially mercury. They’re piloting cutting-edge technology that could also optimize their pumping systems and reduce O&M costs.
It’s all part of the Great Lakes Water Utility Energy Challenge – and first place wins $20,000 cash.
